I find Bible reading plans to be helpful tools for getting
into God’s Word. There are many
different reading plans available. This
one takes you through the whole Bible over two years (and the books of Psalms
and Proverbs twice over two years). It was developed by Stephen Witmer (for a brief introduction to the reading plan see here).
Of course there are some dangers with Bible reading plans – our Bible reading can become a lifeless duty, just something we tick off on the ‘To Do' list for the day; or we can become discouraged because we fall behind the reading plan or proud and self-righteous because we stick to it; or we can be careless readers, just reading through the allotted passages without any real thought or prayer. But if we are mindful to avoid these dangers we can benefit greatly from a good Bible reading plan.
