An announcement about Camp David 2021
Sadly there is no Junior Camp in 2021 (Years 4-6 in 2021) due restrictions on space at the Junior Camp site.
Junior Camp returns 6-9 January, 2022.
The Camp David Executive team wanted to update you about some important developments for Camp David 2021.
The Camp David Executive (Scott Taylor, Penny Stanbury, Rachel Millynn and Jack Parsons) have been in regular contact with Youthworks since earlier this year as we try to chart a course that would enable us to have both a successful and safe Camp David in January 2021.
COVID-19 safety protocols, including social distancing requirements, have impacted the normal usage of the Port Hacking site. It became clear that social distancing would continue into 2021 and make running two camps amid the ongoing venue limitations very challenging. After much deliberation, along with consultation with Youthworks, the difficult decision was reached that we could best proceed with running one camp. Senior Camp in its regular site of Deer Park can be reconfigured for socially distanced dining and sessions whereas Junior Camp in the adjacent Chaldercot site cannot due to the dining and session halls being separate and both limited to 20-25 people maximum (including leaders) socially distanced. In light of these and other factors we have made the difficult decision to not conduct Junior Camp David (for years 4-6) just for this coming January 2021. This decision has been made with a heavy heart by all. Our Junior Camp Director Penny Stanbury, along with many regular Junior camp leaders, have faithfully run Junior Camp for many years and each one looks forward to camp as a highlight in their year. We will be working towards resuming Junior Camp David in 2022 and we currently have a booking in place for January 6-9th, 2022.
Thank you for your support of Camp David over the years. Our directors have recently begun meeting with their camp leaders to plan a wonderful and safe Senior Camp David from Tuesday January 5th - Sunday January 10th, 2021. More information about Senior Camp will be coming out in about a month with registrations due to open around early November.
